The Year 9 options process is an exciting time in a student’s educational journey.  We expect all students to take an active role in their choice of option subjects, along with the support from Parents/Carers as well as the information, advice and guidance from the school.

There is a range of information available, to help students make the right choices.

This will include:

• The GCSE options process - a video explaining the GCSE options process, the subjects available and the timeline of the GCSE options process.

• Subject information - videos from our curriculum leaders explaining their GCSE courses.

• The Options Booklet - a booklet outlining the GCSE options process along with a summary of each GCSE course including examination board and means of assessment.

• The opportunity to discuss your child’s GCSE option choices with a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

• An assembly to Year 9 students about the GCSE options process and their next steps.

As well as the information outlined above, all students will receive additional information and advice from their subject teachers.

It is important that students find out as much information about the courses as possible before they choose their preferences, so we strongly advise Parents and Carers to watch the GCSE options process and subject videos with their child as well as read the GCSE Options Booklet.  This will help to ensure all students are supported in making the right GCSE options choices for them. 

Options can only be submitted once, so please ensure that you are sure of the choices before clicking submit. All option choices must be submitted by Friday 4th April 2025.
